Audi Manual Gearbox Problems

Lots of visitors have asked whether the manual Audi gearboxes have any known faults so I decided to write a post.

As far as I am aware there are no issues with the manuals, they run just fine. A few drivers I know of, own Audi manuals and they drive great. Also, if they go wrong its not going to cost you a fortune to repair compared to the MultiTronics.

I would also like to mention, that the newer model Multi Tronic Auto gearboxes are ok from what I have heard and read. The Tiptronics (Quattros) are also ok from what I have read.

Its just a certain batch of Multi Tronic gearboxes which did not do so well. See and all the comments towards the bottom of the page.

Audi is a great car and a great driving experience but they have let many Audi drivers down by designing a poorly built MultiTronic gearbox which has caused nothing but issues for thousands of drivers, and  not admitting its a common fault, where as Audi technicians say different. The later version of the MultiTronic was improved on and seems to be running fine.

If you have anything further to say about manual Audi gearboxes please comment below and share with other visitors who may find the information useful.

Hi I have an A6 avant s-line 2006, everything was fine , no slipping , no smell, clutch pedal went to the floor nd didn’t come back up. You can’t engage gear with the engine running , but it will if the the engines turned off, checked fluid which is fine nd can’t see any leaks
